Purpose Under minimal direction, a Branch Manager will take “ownership” for the daily operation, management, and profitability of assigned branch/cost center providing leadership, direction, supervision, and training to the staff.   S/he should administer bank policies, procedures, and regulations to maintain effective branch operations minimizing risk to the bank.  A Branch Manager will encourage an environment of team growth and success. In addition, a Branch Manager should fully support the business plan, strategy, and philosophy of the company by providing and promoting the highest level of service in accordance with Chemical Bank’s standards.  S/he will communicate an outgoing and friendly professional demeanor not only to customers but to staff as well.    Work Hours Work hours vary by location, by business necessity, and may include a Saturday rotation.  This position is full time with a minimum of 35 hours per week depending on the needs of the branch/department. This position may require attendance at various bank/educational functions before, during, or after normal business hours. Essential Job Functions   • Will be expected to keep management informed of all decisions, consequences, and results having an impact on people, costs, and/or quality of service that s/he is responsible for. • Manages daily operations and profitability of his/her branch/cost center. • Supervises, coordinates, coaches, mentors, and counsels staff activities to ensure achievement of assigned goals and objectives. • Responsible for staff retention, performance, and developmental coaching. • Identifies operational and service deficiencies and recommends solutions to management. • Assures optimum use of resources to achieve financial and sales goals, and management objectives. Essential Skills for Performing the Job • Must have proficient verbal and written communication skills. • Proven management and leadership skills. • Attention to detail while demonstrating accuracy in performing all work assignments. • Demonstrated tact and professionalism when exchanging information with customers, co-workers, and management. • Extensive problem solving skills. • Embraces a diverse working environment. • Selling and customer service skills. • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products and related Bank software. Scope of Responsibility/Decision Making A Branch Manager will exercise independent judgment based upon their experience in the Branch System.  S/he will typically make moderate to complex decisions without consulting higher level employees, though they generally discuss unusual situations that have an organizational impact with the Retail Sales Manager or other officers.  S/he should exercise common sense and good judgment in decision making and should understand the branch/department goals, standards, policies and procedures established by management.    Education/ Experience B.S./B.A. degree and/or minimum of 5 years of banking/lending experience with strong and proven management skills.  Certification Must be able to obtain a registration through fingerprinting and criminal background check in accordance with the office of financial and insurance regulation with the State of Michigan.
